Graffitti

This made me giggle, especially the last sentence. I liked it. Have you seen any of Banksy's work? If not; google it. Or just go to some vaguely trendy bookstore (New Edition Bookstore in Freo is a good bet, or Oxford St Books, or even the book section of 78's) and look in the graphic art book section for one of his book collections, it's wonderful.

Oh and the Melbourne street art is wonderful. I'll send you some photos over msn.

Thanks, Katie, glad you liked it.

Yeah, Banksy was mentioned in the documentary. I can't remember which of the works that were shown were his. Is he from the UK? I'm thinking of getting some artistic coffee table books. I'll check those stores out sometime.

[this is good]
I thiught this was real cool and i do llike the adventure and anonimity of secret messages ....street art or graphitti..it offers infinte possibilities...Luke ive got a new poem for christmas which i thouth you might enjoy...read it on my latest post.
Thanks.

I read your poem and the haikus you did after that post. It was wonderful and I left a comment :)
The majority of graffiti is little more than petty vandalism or racist slurs. Not only does it take up the time and effort of workers employed by the council to stem the tide of would be artists, it costs the taxpayers money every time a piece of unwanted "art" is removed.

Graffiti that impinges illegally on either public or private property is vandalism, no matter how "cool" it may be.
I completely agree. The majority of graffiti is pathetic. It makes you wonder if the meaningful, intelligent street artists are worth it. I didn't just talk about street art though.

Anyway, thanks heaps for the comment.
